We all know what made Milwaukee famous, and it certainly wasn’t The Steps… A band who -back in 1982- made one and nowadays ultra rare seven inch record. Today it’s sought after by power-pop aficionados round the world. The Steps single is in fact so rare it’s not even on YouTube yet and only the ones on top of the record collecting scene have been aware of its existence.

At the time the members of The Steps were aged between 17 and 20, wore striped shirts, had been raised on classic rock and now had just heard punk-rock, Ramones, Jags, Paul Collin’s Beat and The Cars. They won a local battle of the bands competition, and first prize was to record a single for local label Blue Ribbon Records. An edition of 500 was made and most copies were given away to friends and family while some were sold at local gigs. Today original copies fetch huge amounts when/if they ever pop up for sale.

The Steps one and only single is fab US early 80’s powerpop right up there with the genre’s very best. First ever reissue.

Housed in a deluxe picture sleeve that comes with a printed inner sleeve filled with many rare and previously unpublished photos plus an interview with The Steps’ singer Charlie Eckhardt conducted by Mojo’s Kieron Tyler. Red color vinyl.
